My Story
I'm probably a lot like you. I have a family, a to-do list that never ends, and sometimes have trouble focusing on just one thing at a time and get overwhelmed with all I want and need to do.
I’ve always believed in the magic of creativity—the kind that turns scraps into treasures and brings people together through the joy of making. But my journey into the world of mixed media art didn’t follow a straight line. It zigzagged through moments of doubt, discovery, and a whole lot of imagination.
Years ago, I found myself surrounded by bits and pieces that others might have overlooked—scraps of fabric, paper remnants, found objects from thrift stores, and even broken toys. To me, they were possibilities waiting to happen. With a love for the quirky and the wonky, I started piecing them together, giving them new life and meaning. What began as playful experimentation quickly grew into a passion for creating art that was as unconventional as it was beautiful.
It wasn’t long before I realized that the joy I found in making wasn’t just about the end result—it was about the process of embracing imperfection and letting go of the rules. I wanted others to feel that same freedom, especially women who doubted their artistic abilities or felt overwhelmed by the idea of “perfect” art.
That’s how The Maker Beehive was born. What started as a few workshops grew into a buzzing community where thousands of women gathered to create, connect, and celebrate their unique artistic voices. I watched in awe as people who once hesitated to call themselves artists began making regularly, proudly showcasing and even selling their creations.
Along the way, I’ve introduced a range of creative experiences, from mixed media workshops like Puffy Paper Stray Cats to whimsical themed projects like Prize Pumpkin Week and Paper Doll Caroler Cards. Each one is designed to be fun, approachable, and full of surprises—because art should never be boring.
The Maker Beehive isn’t just about making things. It’s about building confidence, finding joy in imperfection, and discovering the beauty in the ordinary. It’s about connection—connecting with our creativity, with each other, and with a community that celebrates every wonky, wonderful creation.
Through it all, my mission has stayed the same: to inspire others to see the world through a whimsical lens, to create with what they have, and to believe in the magic of their own imaginations.
Welcome to my journey. Welcome to The Maker Beehive. Let’s make some magic together.
