Our Story

The Cabin Retreat is a homestead-away-from-home for me and my husband. Having lived in an HOA regulated community for nearly 30 years, both of our farming backgrounds had us itching for land and the freedom to have a big garden, chickens, and do the things that the Homeowners Association doesn't allow in our neighborhood. I also wanted a place where I could invite friends to gather for creative retreats. We spend many weekends at the cabin and have spent loads of time since purchasing the property in 2021 making major improvements such as new septic system, new roofs on both the cabin and the barn, all new electric and electrical fixtures, new carpet, and a completely renovated lower level that has become my second art studio, where I do many of my classes and livestreams.

Cozy Surroundings

The  Cabin Retreat is tucked into wooded surroundings that are completely fenced in and only accessible by security code at the front gate. There is ample parking in front of the barn. The cabin sleeps up to 14 including 2 double beds (pictured), a pull-out sofa bed that sleeps 2, and a twin bed on the main level, 3 twin beds and a double bed upstairs, and a double bed on the lower level.

The cabin has a ramped wheelchair accessible entrance and the entire main floor is wheelchair accessible.

There is one full bathroom on the main level which has a walk-in shower, and there is one half bathroom upstairs. There is no bathroom on the lower level. All bed, bath, and kitchen linens provided.

Maker Space

The art studio is on the lower level, and there is  plenty of space for creativity on the main level as well.

Guests are welcome to use the large supply of paintbrushes, scissors, glue, cups, palettes, aprons, and collage material (go ahead, rip into my book collection!)

There is also a sewing machine and a printer.

Rustic Charm with Modern Convenience

The cabin includes central air and heating, refrigerator, toaster, microwave, Keurig coffee maker, dishes, utensils and cookware. Free wifi is included and there is a smart TV in the living room. White noise machines are available upon request.

Water is supplied naturally through a cistern system, which is filtered through a brand new UV filter system.

Outside, you will find a large pavilion with a picnic table next to a stocked pond with a deck. Feel free to build a fire in the fire pit or throw some burgers on the grill. You will also meet our 15 chickens and 3 goats: Sonny, Cher, and Dolly.
